If covering the costs of essentials for your tamariki is getting harder, Empower Kids is here for your whānau. We offer support with items that help your child stay well, take part at school, and feel connected in their community.
CARE Grant
Child Assistance and Resources for Empowerment (CARE) Grant is a one-off payment. This can be spent on:

Everyday essentials (bedding, clothes, shoes)

School costs (uniforms)

Extracurricular activities
-
Medical fees and equipment
-
Technology.

CARE grants are given every four months to caregivers of children from 0 to 17 years.
CARE grants are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.

How can I apply for CARE Grant?To apply for CARE Grant, please click on Apply Now button above. It will take you to our Empowered Families portal where you will be asked to create an account using your email address and a password. The form can be completed online and all documents attached at the end. Please ensure to have the following handy so you can readily attach them when prompted: • Community Services Card / Bank Statements / Budget Sheet • Clear photo of your child • Copy of your child's birth certificate or passport.

How much time does it take for my application to be reviewed?Our CARE Grants team reviews all new applications online within 2 weeks of submission.

What are current processing times for CARE Grants?After your application is reviewed, we’ll email you to confirm that your child has been placed on our waiting list. While we do our best to reduce the wait time, matching a child with a sponsor can take up to 3 months due to high demand. Sadly, there are always more children needing support than donors. If your circumstances change during this time, or if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at care@empowerkids.org.nz.

Can I apply for multiple children from one family?Yes, Empower Kids will be happy to support multiple children in one family. You can apply for all children in your care aged 4 to 17. If you have previously applied for funding for a child, then you can login and apply for their sibling(s).
